Procedure text dalam bahasa Inggris terbagi menjadi tiga jenis, yakni:
- Procedure text yang menjelaskan bagaimana sesuatu bekerja atau bagaimana menggunakan instruksi/operasi manual. Contohnya seperti how to use computer, how to use polraoid camera, atau how to take a photo.
- Procedure text yang menginstruksikan bagaimana melakukan aktivitas tertentu. Contohnya how to make a soup, how to do hand stand, atau how to play hockey.
- Procedure text yang berhubungan dengan perilaku manusia. Contohnya how to succeed, how to manage stress, how to live happily, dan how to be a nice person.
Dalam buku Joyful Learning Bahasa Inggris, Agus Nurjaman juga menyebutkan beberapa ciri-ciri procedure text, di antaranya:
- Biasanya menggunakan simple present tense dengan rumus (S + V1)
- Berbentuk imperative atau perintah
- Menggunakan action verbs (contoh: make, take, stir, boil)
- Menggunakan temporal conjunctions (contoh: first, then, next, after that, last)

2. Materials
Materials adalah bagian dari struktur procedure text yang menjelaskan mengenai alat dan bahan yang diperlukan dalam membuat atau melakukan sesuatu.
3. Step/Procedures
Bagian terkahir dari struktur procedure text adalah step atau procedures yang menjelaskan langkah-langkah atau prosedur dalam membuat atau melakukan sesuatu.
CONTOH PROCEDURE TEXT
How to Make Simple Creamy Coffee Milk
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon of coffee powder
- 1½ spoons of full cream milk
- ½ teaspoon of sugar (you can skip this because full cream milk is fairly sweet)
- A cup of water
Utensils that we need:
Steps:
- Take the coffee powder, sugar, and full cream milk in the cup.
- Whisk the mixture rigorously by using the spoon until its color becomes light brown.
- Heat a cup of water in pan and wait until it’s boiled.
- After that, pour the boiled water into the cup that has the mixture of coffee cream in it.
- Then, stir it well by the spoon.
- Once done, a cup of hot coffee milk is ready to be served.
How to Make a Vegetable Salad with Peanut Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 potatoes – cut into quarters & boiled
- 2 eggs – boiled and cut into quarters
- Bean sprouts – blanched
- Long beans – cut into 2 inch long, blanched
- Firm tofu – pan fried/baked & cut into cubes
- Tempe – cut into slices & pan fried/baked
- Spinach – blanched & roughly chopped
- Cabbage – blanched and thinly sliced
- Cucumber – cut into cubes
- Chayote – boiled
Ingredients for Sauce:
- 100 gram fried peanut
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 teaspoon shrimp paste
- 2 red chili peppers
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon tamarind pulp
- 1/2 teaspoon of lime juice
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup hot water, depending on desired thickness
Utensils that we need:
- Pot
- Colander
- Mortar and Pestle
- Serving dish
- Slotted spoon
Steps:
- Place fried peanut, garlic, brown sugar, chilies, and shrimp paste in a mortar. Grind with pestle until everything is well mixed. Remove into a mixing bowl.
- Add tamarind juice, lime juice, and half cup of water. Stir well and add more water to get the consistency of peanut sauce to your liking.
- Boil separately the cabbage, long beans, spinach and bean sprouts, potato and egg, then put aside.
- Blanch the rest of the vegetable and egg in boiling water and remove using a slotted spoon.
- Place a portion of each salad ingredient into a serving plate/bowl. Serve the peanut sauce and mix well. It can be served both warm or cool.

How to Make a Vegetarian Carrot Soup
Ingredients:
- 1 chopped onion
- 50 gr chopped carrots
- 2 lt vegetable stock
- 100 gr low fat cheese
- Ground black pepper
Instructions:
- Put the onion and carrots into a large pan with the stock. Bring up to boil.

- Add soft cheese and blend again for creaminess.

- Turn on the stove.
- Put the pan, fill it with 400cc of water, and boil the water.
- After the water is boiled, put in the noodle into the pan.
- Cook the noodle.
- After 3 minutes left, turn off the stove.
- Prepare a bowl, pour all the seasoning into a bowl.
- Then put in the noodle into bowl, mix with the seasoning, and stir well.
- If you want, you can add another garnish.
- Finally, your noodle is ready to be served.

How to Make a Banana Bread

How to Make a Lemonade

- Slice a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a cup.
- Take out the seeds.

How to Make Ice Lemon Tea
Ingredients:
- 1 bag of teabag
- 2 pieces of lemon orange
- 2 tsp of sugar
- 6 Ice cubes
- 50 ml of hot water
- 150 ml of cold water
Steps:
- Brewed tea bag in 50 ml of hot water.
- Add sugar, and then stir until evenly distributed.
- Squeeze the lemon. Then, pour lemon juice into the tea.
- Add ice cubes and add 150 ml of cold water.
- Stir until the lemon juice mixes with the tea.
- Add lemon slices as decoration.
- Ice Lemon Tea is ready to be served.
How to Make Pizza
Ingredients
1. Dough
- 2 ½ cups warm water (600 mL)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 7 cups all-purpose flour (875 g), plus more for dusting
- 6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for greasing
- 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
- ¼ cup semolina flour (30 g)
2. Tomato Sauce
- 28 oz canned whole tomatoes (795 g)
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
Steps
- Firstly, “bloom” the yeast by sprinkling the sugar and yeast in the warm water.
- Let sit for 10 minutes, until bubbles form on the surface.
- Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl.
- Make a well in the middle and add the olive oil and bloomed yeast mixture.
- Mix until a shaggy dough begins to form using a spoon.
- Turn the dough out onto a clean work surface and knead for 10-15 minutes.
- Then grease a clean, large bowl with olive oil and place the dough inside
- Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured work surface.
- After that, preheat the oven as high as your oven will allow, between 450-500˚F (230-260˚C).
- Place a pizza stone, heavy baking sheet (turn upside down so the surface is flat), or cast iron skillet in the oven.
- Meanwhile, make the tomato sauce: Add the salt to the can of tomatoes and puree with an immersion blender, or transfer to a blender or food processor, and puree until smooth.
- Take a portion and start by poking the surface with your fingertips once the dough has rested.
- Then, stretch and press the dough into a thin round.
- Sprinkle semolina onto an upside down baking sheet and place the stretched crust onto it. Add the sauce and ingredients of your choice.
- Slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or pan. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the crust and cheese are golden brown.
- Add any garnish of your preference.
How to Make Bregedel Tempe
Ingredients:
- 150 g tempe
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 spoon seasoning stock
- 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
Steps:
- Mash the tempe with a fork.
- Put the mashed tempe in a bowl and mix with the flour and seasoning stock, followed by an egg.
- Shape the tempe into the size of a golf ball and flatten it a little with a fork.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a medium flame. When the oil is hot, drop the tempe into the oil, five or six at a time.
- Fry until golden brown on both sides, drain on absorbent paper, and serve hot with chili or sauce.
