CITING A SOURCE WITHIN THE PAPER

APA documentation style requires that sources cited in the text must be included in the reference list, and that each item in the reference list must be cited in the text. Cite the source within the text as follows:
Walker (2000) compared reaction times
or
In a recent study of reaction times (Walker, 2000)

The information in the parenthesis tells the reader that the idea expressed came from a work by an author named Walker in a source with the date 2000. The full reference is included in the reference list, formatted according to the samples shown above.
